How Internet Is Beginning To Change Education

January 2, 2012 on 1:53 am | By | In African American Scholarships | No Comments

Education was drastically changed with the internet and various devices. A quarter of university students were signed up for at least 1 online class during the fall of 2009. E-learning, or online classes, is much better for the environment and also the economy. Not only do students pay less for their tuition, but they also save money on transportation costs and materials. At a conference last year Bill Gates said that in the next five years universities will practically be worthless since the best lectures and presentations will all be available on the internet.

Khan Academy, which gives “a free world-class education for anyone anywhere,” even received funding from Bill Gates. Khan Academy has over 2,100 video clips that range from topics like simple algerbra to amortization. Where there is a will to learn, there is a way; Khan Academy is just that. Now the two most significant things to help someone get an education are access to the internet and the time to be able to dedicate for watching videos and doing work. While it can be a powerful and destructive force to society and our planet, the internet is helping bring to pass great improvements in education and instruction. They also have educational funding programs available for college kids and minorities. One example is, they have African American scholarships that will help them finance their educational requirements.

The internet gives anyone the possibility of becoming whatever they want, money is becoming less important when compared to online influence and skills. In the past, people simply had to travel great distances to obtain a good education but now we only have to go to our family room for the greatest educational resources. Because of this, many businesses and institutions are pushing for computer and internet access to 3rd world countries. In no time, anyone can have the possibility to get properly educated for pennies on the dollar. Some time ago, the only individuals that had the ability to get an education and enroll in college were the high-class families who not only had money but also power. A good deal has changed ever since then.

The ways by which we educated ourselves have evolved dramatically with the introduction of the computer tablet. The single thing a student needs to have a full learning experience full of videos and interactive games is a small device the size of a notebook. Students can now do all their work and even submit it by simply touching the screen; no more white out or empty staplers. Education has changed more in the last couple years than it did during the whole 20th century. Sadly, people are not using the new improvements in education. Everyone who has access to the internet can use these tools but not enough people know about them.

Education has a bright future, as do those who can benefit from the changes that are going on. Every single day individuals have increasingly more access to learning tools that can help them gain more knowledge. Sadly, the opportunities that lots of individuals have in education aren’t being taken advantage of. Classes online unquestionably are the future of education, not just because they’re environmentally and economically friendly but also since they give their students flexibility.
