Ok, this was a tricky one. I had went widescreen when I go the Hanns-G 191D 19" widescreen TFT . I loved it... We bought 3, and gave one away in a Tekbunker competition. So where do I go from here. The resolution of 1440x900 was excellent. I have a good computer with an 8800GTS as well so the gaming at that resolution was fine.

But what happens when I upgrade to a 22” or 20” TFT? No idea at all. I don’t want to have to buy a different graphics card if my trusty GTS cant cut it! I narrowed the field to a Dell or a Samsung. I am not a Dell fan, but they do make excellent monitors. Samsung? I do like them, the are clean cut and always pushing boundaries.

I did realise though that it’s not about the graphics card, or the gaming, but about the experience with the TFT, what ever the size or type. In the end I stumped for the 20" Samsung SM206BW 2ms Widescreen TFT. The 22” had appealed, but I had my sensible cap on that day. The 20” it was.

It arrived in the usual cardboard and foam packaging you would expect. The TFT is tightly packed, but it’s very well done. I did feel more confident that it would be unharmed due to this fact.

Contents are good, being there is a DVI-D cable included, unlike my last monitor. This meant I could use it at its best standard.

Here are some specifications.
