Page 3 of 3 Cool, lets do some testing. Ok, what do I do? Game, internet, DVDs. Please be warned that the images are .PNG and are large. Please allow time for the images to load. For this reason, only one per programme will be used. Games to test, - Eve Online, 2.1 patch
- GTR 2 1.1 patch
Applications and DVD’s - CyberLink PowerDVD v6
- Band of Brothers (DVD Boxset)
Test set up as follows, First up is EVE Online. Lots of people play this, though not at the same subscriber level as WoW it is a very engrossing game. EVE takes place in a cluster of stars far from mankind’s original habitat, planet Earth. How far away, and whether or not that cradle of civilization still exists, is a mystery. Humans arrived through a natural wormhole and, gazing up upon an alien sky they had never seen, were completely unable to determine where this new world was located. From the New Eden solar system, where the gate of EVE once led to the old world, humans expanded in all directions at a furious pace, exploring and colonizing rapidly. (click to enlarge) Eve has a widescreen option to my view only puts some bands at the top and bottom. It took to the resolution straight away, no need to change it. With this game however, no extra benefit was seen. The image quality was excellent though, crisp and clean. I am using the most up to date drivers for this, which seem to make no difference at all Next up GTR 2. this is an excellent game, with details graphics and excellent physics. Extending the ground-breaking physics engine found in GTR, GTR 2 takes the thrill of driving to new heights. GTR 2, which is the official simulation of the FIA GT championship, features more than 140 high detailed cars and 34 different track-layouts in a hyper realistic racing world with breathtaking real-world-like effects. With a revolutionary Driving School Mode, GTR 2 will teach everybody how to become a real race driver. It was raining a lot. The game also seemed excellent at this resolution. The computer seemed to be unaffected by the jump in resolution, which was a welcome surprise. Though the image is dark, the quality was again excellent, with good depth and clarity. Ok, now on to the final test for me. Band of Brothers using Power DVD. I love this title and with this new TFT I was expecting some good results. I left the settings pretty much default, except to keep aspect ratio. Also, I did reset the display drivers to default though using Nvida scaling. With all tests it is impossible to show you the exact image quality. This is because the image with be shown through a different CRT/TFT. The quality of Band of Brothers was excellent. High action, crisp and clear at all points and extreme colour depth made every episode a joy to watch. Conclusion. This monitor is amazing. It makes my last TFT look like a budget product. It is very hard to show the quality and to show the difference in applications and games in any review as you need to be here to see it. The warmth and depth to the image makes every penny worth it. This is the 20 inch version. With 2ms response time for the 22inch and this version, I can find no reason not to get one. The 20 inch model looms large on your desktop and looks great. Its design is chic’ and simple. Thank god they never tried to add speakers and billions of gimmicks. This is just a simple, clean and high tech monitor. Just get one. Pro's - Excellent image quality.
- Well built.
- Good design.
- Uncomplicated.
