Here are some images of some possible fitting issues. Nothing to bad, but always check your motherboard before spending a lot of money.

ATI really did a good job with the production of this 512 mb X1800XT video card. This was meant to compete with the 256 Mb 7800 GTX from nvidia and 512 mb version of 7800 GTX. I say it's a great card overall and for the price point of $260-$300(256 mb version and 512 mb version).

Pro's

  • It is very quiet in 2D mode as the fan only spins at 27%.

  • The cooler is dual slot, although some people think this is a con for nvidia SLI cards and many other reasons such as for a sound card or tv tuner. I prefer it as it allows the card to have a better cooling system and of course it routes the hot air out the back of the case instead of blowing it inside case or near chipset fan on my motherboard.

  • The X1800XT is very overclock friendly out of the box. And with ATI tool you can find max stable core and memory clock speeds in less then 10 min usually. Also with a simple bios flash you can run this at X1800XT PE speeds, which we'll result in even high overclocks as it raises the v-core by 0.1 increment for the core.

  • ATI supports Volt modding to some degree on these cards, most other video card I'm familar with have they're warranties are voided if the user does any volt modding whether it be soft mod or hard mod.

Cons:
  • Run's hot, under full load I've seen it reach 86c, but I am not alarmed as the card has such high clock speeds. And ATI's card are always known to run hotter then your average nvida or lower end X800 card.

  • Power Hog, uses about 26 Amps of my 28 amps from my OCZ 520 Watt PSU.
I give it a 9/10 of 10 for being the best bang for buck card you can get for under 300 dollars.

Conclusion:

I personally think its the best bang for buck 512 mb graphics card that you can get for that ammount of money. There is no nvidia card as of now that you can get for $300 or less that has 512 mb of video ram, AA + HDR ability, and dual slot copper exhaust air cooler.

I think I made a good decision and I'll say that anyone who is considering a new graphics card should either for for the x1800xt (if you are on a budget, or the flag strip Ati X1900XT.

You will not regret and it'll last you a good long while till nvidia and ATI release directX 10 card with shader mark 4.0 and pixel. shader 4.0
