Full specifications are here at the SC101 page and in short lists every ability you could wish for in a network storage space drive.

The next few pictures are how the SC101 arrived and then out of the box. The impressive protective packaging contained the SC101, a power adapter, a CAT 5 cable, some instructions and install discs.

Also included is a bonus software disc, Smartsync Pro. I have used this sort of back up software before - Backup4All, and I liked it. I’ll be checking this out in detail later.

Unpacking the SC101 all the stuff was revealed including the comprehensive 54 page Manual which is also available in pdf here. The discs I ignored following Netgears advice and will install drivers etc direct from their website.

I was pretty impressed with the packaging, though I am sire something heavy falling on this in route, would offer average protection. It does offer very good protection if dropped, so if the courier is doing their job, there should be no problems here.

I unpacked the SC101 and this is what I found inside.

Of course the manuals and disc’s.

These discs are of course the afore mentioned install software that Netgear warn not to use. As you can see, its a little more than that. There is a bonus disc, with Smartsync Pro, some back up software. I didnt install either the bonus or the Netgear SC101 software. I just kept well away.

Next, the SC101 unpacked.
