From the Coolermaster website:

"The Musketeer clearly displays the fan voltage, the audio sound pressure and the temperature of the thermal sensor. The two front sliders allow users to adjust the fan speed and the dynamics of the sound pressure with no further hassles. Plus, the Musketeer's Audio Sound Pressure device will simply swing along with sound, just like legacy amplifiers, perfectly corresponding with the spirit of "One for All and All for One".

I thought this should be a nice add-on that won't take much effort. The box arrived and it is nice and bright, bit like a CDROM size box (fits in a CDROM bay) and the quality was good. I opened the box, all nicely packaged and carefully rapped up for protection. I could think of no realistic way that this product could be damaged in transit, unless crushed by something much heavier. This is due to the Coolermaster packaging, and the resellers efforts as well.

I was quickly surprised to find this product fully cased. By this I mean, it is enclosed and would be really good for Perspex cases, and there would be no modding to hide all the insides etc. One thing though. As I installed later, cables lay everywhere, and are worthy of cable sleeving.

Lets look at the spec.

  • Connects directly to your computer's +12V DC power source
  • No software required
  • Reflective blue L.E.D. Display
  • Requires only one 5.25" drive bay
  • Operator controlled fans for energy conservation and noise reduction
  • Suitable for PC equipped with audio device and high-speed fan.

Here is a nice clear picture of a dial. Looks cool, and audio fans should love the look, very retro. I like audio equipment and this fits the bill for me, glad to see three of them, in a nice blue. All cables and manuals included, and finish on the case is good. I could not wait to install. All I had to do was figure out what would go where, as there is a temp sensor, a dB sensor, and a fan controller.

The dB sensor is, to me, nothing more than a visual effect though. Very nice, it looked to only serve people who only like jumping dials or gauges when listening to music or games. I would not imagine it is an accurate dB sensor for any sort of music recreation. Noting wrong with that, it never claims to be.

Product pictures from the Coolermaster website.

Next on to the install.
