Written by SUSHRUKH
Aug 04, 2007 at 12:08 PM

General-NewsYou know how sometimes you see mall kiosks set up that sell those muscle relaxation pads? The ones with the gel inside so that you can stick them in the microwave for a warmth that will soothe your aching body?

The ones that you can also stick in the fridge if you need to prevent swelling on a recently injured body part? Well, it turns out that these kinds of pads are just for your body. They get designed for your laptop as well.

Viewsonic VX2255wmb 22inch Widescreen LCD Monitor with Integrated Webcam Review
Written by SUSHRUKH
Aug 04, 2007 at 12:10 PM

General-NewsThe Viewsonic VX2255wmb with its integrated webcam is an all in one solution to the VOIP or video chatting consumer. With a rather simple setup, in minutes you can have your monitor properly setup, recording video or chatting with your friends online.

I do have to admit, the functionality does get rather handy when the situation arises, but this monitor does need some polish before I would personally lay my money down to purchase it.

System Maintenance: Clean Desktop - Clean Performance
Written by SUSHRUKH
Aug 04, 2007 at 12:12 PM

General-NewsHenry David Thoreau once wrote, “Simplicity, simplicity, simplicity I say, let your affairs be as two or three, and not a hundred or a thousand; instead of a million count half a dozen, and keep your accounts on your thumb nail.” It’s advice that can not only make you feel better, but actually improve the performance of your system.

Cooler Master Cosmos 1000 EATX
Written by SUSHRUKH
Aug 04, 2007 at 12:14 PM

General-NewsIn 2004, Cooler Master released its Stacker STC-T01, considered a legend and pioneer of case design. Its unprecedented 11 drive bays, dual power supply mounts, build quality, and simple but elegant design gave users a level of flexibility and working space, which destroyed copycats down the road.

Among these copycats were the Raidmax Katana, Xion Stacker, and Thermaltake Armor; the Armor was the most successful of them. However, it still lagged behind the original Stacker in almost all aspects. But this is all ancient history. Three years later, Cooler Master has unveiled its new flagship chassis, the Cooler Master Cosmos 1000.

You would expect it to be just another no holds barred ultimate performance chassis, but Cooler Master defines this case as "Performance Meets Silence." It seems like Cooler Master has upped the ante this time...

Unable to Save to IE7's Favorites After a Move... How to Fix it!
Written by SUSHRUKH
Aug 04, 2007 at 12:16 PM

General-News

Vista is very good at protecting users from their own idiocy... so much so that it can be a chore for Power Users who mess with their settings all the time. For example, some people like to move the location of Internet Explorer's Favorites, but IE 7's Protected Mode will prevent you from being able to write to this new location.

Whenever you try to save a web page to your Favorites, then Vista will generate an error message. Again, we have to pull out our bag of Administrator's tricks to tell Vista that we know what we are doing. Here's the procedure on how to fix this.

Zalman ZM-MFC2 Review
Written by SUSHRUKH
Aug 04, 2007 at 12:19 PM

General-NewsZalman are most well known for their exploits in the cooling and case making side of computers. Today however I have their cryptically named ZM-MFC2 which is your standard fan controller with a wattage twist. With rising temperatures and noise levels, this controller might just be the ticket to quieter/cooler computing.

Logitech VX Nano Review
Written by SUSHRUKH
Aug 04, 2007 at 12:21 PM

General-NewsIf you are a fan of the VX Revolution, you will probably like the VX Nano even more. The tiny USB receiver is the highlight of the Nano and the free wheel scroll is great as well. The Logitech VX Nano is a laser mouse with 800 dpi sensitivity and it is able to track accurately on any surface but clear glass and mirrored finishes.

The most important feature of the Logitech VX Nano is the tiny USB Nano receiver that is a mere fraction of the size of typical notebook mouse wireless receivers.

Written by SUSHRUKH
Aug 04, 2007 at 12:24 PM

intelToday on our arena we have dual-core processors based on Intel's NetBurst architecture - perhaps, one of the most controversial architectures in the history of x86-processors.

It started out with disappointments and faint hopes, then justified the hopes and made us doubt the disappointments, and, finally, redoubled disappointments and totally destroyed all hopes. Not an easy path indeed, and in any case a bright page in the history of modern processors.

As you can see, repairing even fine SMD components like this capacitor isn't that difficult. All you need is some soldering tools and a little chutzpah. So, the next time you drop your card and knock out a few surface-mounted components, and do NOT have any warranty to count on, you don't have to sit and cry. You can now fix the card.

Written by Administrator
Aug 03, 2007 at 01:56 PM

nvidia_logoIn the past Nvidia have produced some of the best enthusiast chipsets around, most notably perhaps their nForce 4 for the old AMD 939 systems. Still, times have changed now and for quite a while Intel's 965P and 975P based motherboards was the way to go with LGA 775 systems.

However, in recent times Nvidia have clawed their way back in with their feature packed 680i boards and we have finally got our hands on one. The MSI P6N-Diamond which priomises great overclocking, a chock load of features and excellent cooling to boot, let's see if this all rings true.

If you are careful about scams in real life, you should be careful about online scams as well. It really is the same thing, if done on a different medium. If it's too good to be true in real life, it's really is too good to be true online. Just like what Manny the One Armed Technician said in Heinlein's "The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress" - There Ain't Such A Thing As A Free Lunch. When it comes to the Internet, always remember this quote.

Kingston DataTraveler Secure Series
Written by SUSHRUKH
Jul 31, 2007 at 10:17 AM

General-NewsIn my experience with both DataTraveler drives I have come away quite impressed. From the beginning I wondered if they would warrant their hefty price tag in comparison with drives that do not have hardware based encryption. After using them for over two weeks, if you are looking for a flash drive and deal with sensitive files you can't go wrong with either one of these drives. Security comes at a premium.

They are both the fastest drives I have used to date, with or without encryption. The onboard encryption and decryption co-processor is a big factor in allowing these drives to perform as fast as they do. If you want peace of mind and superior performance, either one of these DataTraveler drives will make any user happy.

General-NewsIt has been a while since we last reviewed an ASRock motherboard, but this budget manufacturer has kept churning out new and more innovative products. The ASRock motherboard we have our hands on for this Linux and Solaris review is the ALiveNF7G-HDReady.

It combines NVIDIA's GeForce 7050 and nForce 630a MCP with a wealth of integrated extras such as IEEE-1394a Firewire to offer a rather good package for its low price. This motherboard is also capable of handling 720p H.264 video playback with low CPU Utilization and HDCP decoding through supported software.
