As promised, Xiaomi introduced the Redmi Note 9 smartphone for the global markets today. The new phone in the Redmi Note series is the first smartphone to be powered by the MediaTek’s latest 8nm processor- Helio G85. Other key features of the smartphone include a 6.53-inch Full HD+ punch-hole display with Gorilla Glass 5, quad rear cameras with a 48-megapixel primary camera, a 13-megapixel front camera, and a 5020mAh battery with 18W fast charging.
Redmi Note 9 Features, Specs
If we talk about design, the Note 9 and comes in a plastic back panel, and is available in Forest Green, Polar White, and Midnight Grey colors. The body also has splash-resistant P2i nanocoating.
It comes with a punch-hole in the top left corner of the screen compared to the center punch-hole in the Note 9 Pro. Also, the fingerprint sensor is moved back from the side. The rear camera module is the same but flash is moved to the right side.
Dimensions of the new handset are 162.38×77.2×8.95mm and its weight is 199g.
The new Redmi Note 9 sports a 6.53-inch Full HD+(2340 × 1080 pixels) LCD screen with 450nit brightness. It comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
Helio G85 Processor
The new Redmi phone is powered by an Octa-Core MediaTek Helio G85 8nm processor with a Mali-G52 GPU. It is an enhanced version of Helio G80 and sits between Helio G80 and Helio G90T SoCs.
It is paired with up to 4GB LPPDDR4x RAM and up to 128GB UFS 2.1 storage that is expandable up to 512GB with a microSD card.
48MP Quad Camera
In terms of camera, the quad rear camera setup on the phone includes a 48MP primary Samsung GM1 sensor with f/1.79 aperture, PDAF, EIS, 0.8μm pixel size, an 8MP 118° ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor.
The selfie camera is a 13MP sensor with f/2.25 aperture.
Battery and Fast Charging
The device packs a big 5,020mAh battery with 18W fast charging support and a fast charger comes inside the box..
Connectivity features on the phone include Dual SIM, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5, NFC (optional), GPS + GLONASS, 3.5mm audio jack, and USB Type-C.
Redmi Note 9 price starts at $199 (Rs. 14,900 approx.) for the 3GB+64GB version. The 4GB+128GB version is priced at $249 (Rs. 18,600 approx.). However, it is expected to launch at a less price in India and could cost between Rs. 10k and Rs. 12k.
The sale of the smartphone is scheduled to start in early May. It is also expected to launch next month in China and will come to India at the same time.
